*17 pairs of new clothes distributed to the children at Ram Nagar Colony, Shadnagar.* They have been regular to our daily sessions. They felt very happy for these new clothes.

Same day we have also *READ ALOUD a story to the children and reviewed their daily progress.*

Our special thanks to the *lovely couple Suresh Viswanath and Jyothi from the same community* who have been instrumental in conducting these activities. They are taking the total responsibility of executing each and every task planned by us. Kudos for their efforts. You can see the couple in the picture.

Apart from them *Nadini, Studying 8th class* (who is beside Haritha) is conducting daily classes for their children.

Thanks to *Manasa garu and Sriram Rahi annayya* for sponsoring and being reason for smiles in children faces.

*31st Library Session Updates - 10th Jan ,2021- 2 to 3.30pm:*

Participants:
1. Chakri
2. Divya
3. Kalyani
4. Naresh Padmaraju
5. Nilima
6. Sowjanya
7.Srinivas

Opening remarks by Srinivas garu and warm up activities conducted by Divya

*Activity 1* -
Making the participants to do as instructed by Divya if the sentence start with 'Divya said___' participants should do it else participants need not have to do. It helps in making the participants alert and focused with fast instructions.

*Activity 2* -
Building a tower with atleast 3 different items available around you. This makes kids to think creative and opens up ideas to use same thing in multiple ways 😊..

*Book discussion* started by Naresh Padmaraju garu on book *'The Librarian of Basra"* It is a true story when the invasion of Iraq reached Basra on April 6, 2003. With the help of friends and neighbors, Alia Mohammad Bake, chief librarian of Basra’s Central Library, managed
to rescue seventy percent of the library’s collection before the library burned down after 9 days'.

Every one shared their views about the book which lead to *explore the multiple ideas in taking libraries towards children.*

*Few of the ideas shared by participants*

1. Audio books and other online options to take libraries to childerns.

2. *Nilima* garu suggested initiation should start from parents to inspire their kids reading and encouraging to 'Read' through their actions.

3. *Divya* suggessted making the libraries attractive by arranging facilities to kids like good environment and suitable table, chairs for kids..

4. *Sowjanya* garu suggessted a theme like Sanchara grandhalayalu- Bringing books and sharing books in every colony.

5. *Chakri* garu suggested reaching kids through Online clses/virtual way through organising a story session by introducing a book at school level. For example Ramakrishna math recently conducted such events, similarly we can organise events monthly.. related to book competition in chandamama stories, Akbar biral stories, Alibaba etc.. and encourage kids in elaborating or sharing the stories they read..

6. *Naresh* garu suggessted an idea libraries to reach kids through social media saying story and later gifting/sponsoring few books to kids by making them read and create interest in them to love books..

7. *Srinivas* garu : Taking 20 to 30 Story books in a scooter / bike and do some read aloud in nearest slums or villages one time or on weekly basis

8. *An idea by Book worm* team - through sharing good books like a way of Zomato.. India post and sending them to make people read..

*Post activity* shared by Srinivas garu-

A) *"Weekly Read Aloud Challenge"*
'Everyone of us to take up this *Challenge* and do a READ ALOUD atleast once in a week- with near by children, adults or any students from your family or neighbour's or village Audience can be anyone. The main purpose is for *our practice* and improving our skills at the same time *CREATING INTEREST* in children or listeners by sharing our learnings of past 30 Sessions.

*As an ASWA volunteers* while Thinking globally , *let us also act locally* and start sharing our learnings to our surrounding people/neighborhoods..

Please keep updated of your experiences during read aloud in our whatsapp group..

B) *Other activity for everyone to read two books and share review of them in our Weekly Library Session.*
